Why Join CFSBDA?
California Family Soap Box Derby Association (CFSBDA) receives its income from rally registration fees, membership dues, donations and fees collected from race cities that hire CFSBDA to run their Rally or Local Area Championship races.
CFSBDA expenses are primary incurred running races within the region and include AASBD sanctioning license fees, city permit/street closure fees; hay bale rental, barricade rental, port-a-potty rentals; equipment maintenance; and trophies. CFSBDA is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
CFSBDA has cooperated in hosting rally races in Oceanside, Ventura, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Victorville, Henderson (Nevada), Riverside, and Santa Maria. The product of these efforts have been dozens of rally Champions and local Champions travelling to compete at the World Championships in Akron, Ohio.
2020/21 CFSBDA Dues:
$60 Single racer membership
$100 Family membership (Two or more siblings)
Benefits of Membership
Membership in the California Family Soap Box Derby Association comes with the following benefits and responsibilities:
– One vote per family in CFSBDA elections
– Members receive a $5 per race discount at all CFSBDA hosted races (does not apply at races that CFSBDA is paid to run for other race cities).
– Access to CFSBDA equipment for hosting races you organize as well as some cars that can be borrowed.
– CFSBDA e-mail updates
Responsibilities
All CFSBDA members are all unpaid volunteers. All CFSBDA member families are expected to help with the planning and running of races as well as with event set-up/tear-down and the lifting of cars. We need to stress this participation as a responsibility of membership. In addition to rallies and Local Area Championship races that you are participating in, your help will be needed at races that the club is paid to run (even if your child may not be racing) and at promotional events that provide visibility for the sport. The fees earned from these events are what enable CFSBDA to produce the Greater Los Angeles Local Championship race at the end of the year and provide the winners with financial assistance for their trip to Akron.
