CFSBDA at Long Beach Grand Prix

CFSBDA has been asked by the Boy Scouts of America to run a Soap Box Derby event as part of their "Scout Alley" fun area at this year's Long Beach Grand Prix. 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts and they are sponsoring a car in the IZOD IndyCar series this season to publicize that fact. We will be running fun races for scouts and scout leaders the evenings of Friday, April 16th and Saturday, April 17th. Scout Alley will be located on Bay Street at Pine Ave in the Pike area adjacent to the track. We will need at least eight CFSBDA member volunteers to work this event each night. We will be running two adult cars provided by James Justus and two new Super Stock cars provided by Akron. I would also like to have 3–4 members bring their stock and masters cars for display. This is a great opportunity to generate interest in Soap Box Derby in Southern California and we will need all hands on deck for this one.

CFSBDA at Centennial Aviation Day Event,
June 12, 2010
CFSBDA has been invited to have a display at this event celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the first International Air meet held here in Los Angeles in 1910. Wolfie and Gary Ruddell have volunteered to build a soap box car from scratch that looks like it might have been built in the 1930's and we will display this along side our current cars. Another great opportunity to generate interest in Soap Box Derby in Southern California and we will need volunteers to work this event.
